"Pros and cons of exotic trees and shrubs in our gardens – what are the alternatives?"

Start: 6 pm
Location: Botanical Garden, meeting point at the lime tree.

Exotic trees and shrubs are now a familiar sight in many gardens. For example, cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) has become the most popular hedge plant because it is evergreen, dense and not very susceptible to drought and pests. However, this robustness also makes it unattractive to most native animals. Due to milder winters caused by climate change, more and more exotic species are establishing themselves in our forests, where they compete with native species. In this guided tour, we would like to discuss this development and learn about native alternatives to exotic trees and shrubs.

Entrance fee: 5 € per person, disabled persons 3 €, members of the Freundeskreis free. A registration is not neccessary.
