Talk by Frank Glorius

Title: "Imidazolium-based lipid analogs — A versatile toolbox for the investigation of biological membranes"
Occasion:
Joint CellNanOs and SFB Seminar
Host: Joost Holthuis
Start: 22.09.2023 - 12:00
Location: CellNanOs, 38/201

About the speaker: Frank Glorius conducts research at the Institute of of Organic Chemistry, University Münster.

Abstract of the talk: Biological membranes and their constituents are some of the most important and fundamental building blocks of life. However, their exact role in many essential cellular processes as well as in the development of diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer's is still not very well understood. Thus, we design, synthesize and evaluate imidazolium- based lipid analogs that can integrate into biological membranes and can be used as probes for live cell imaging or to manipulate membranes. We are a group of organic chemists and we are experts in modern catalysis and synthesis and we also love to tailor-make molecules.
