Inhalt des Vortrags: Three-dimensional electron microscopy (3D-EM) is a powerful imaging technique that enables the visualization of complex biological structures at high resolution. Unlike traditional 2D electron microscopy, 3D-EM generates a three-dimensional representation of the specimen by collecting multiple images from different sample depths or angles and reconstructing them into a single 3D model. Serial blockface scanning electron microscopy (SBEM) and array tomography (AT) are techniques based on mechanical sectioning (microtomy). The presentation will focus on these two specific methods and discuss the essential technical background and resulting application possibilities.
